Payroll Business Partner, £35,774-£37,640, Hybrid - Glasgow

P&L Recruitment are working with a growing charity organisation based in Glasgow to recruit a full-time permanent Payroll Business Partner to supporting the effective day-to-day delivery of payroll operations. A key focus of this role is to analyse payroll and related workforce data, identify trends, exceptions and risks, and use this insight to improve accuracy, controls and decision-making. This is a hybrid role, 4 days based at home and 1 day based in the office.

The main duties:

  • Support the Payroll Lead in the end-to-end delivery of the monthly payroll cycle, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Review, validate and manipulate payroll data from multiple sources to ensure information is accurate
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, training and development to payroll team members and relevant stakeholders
  • Act as a key point of escalation for complex payroll queries, investigating issues thoroughly, applying technical knowledge and judgement, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Support the implementation of pay awards, increments, legislative updates and other payroll changes
  • Assist the Payroll Lead in reviewing, documenting and improving payroll procedures, controls and working practices to streamline processes and reduce risk.
  • Support system testing, upgrades and change initiatives to ensure payroll processes remain robust, accurate and fit for purpose.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders across Finance, HR and Operations to identify opportunities to streamline payroll inputs, improve data quality and increase process efficiency.

The main requirements:

  • Detailed knowledge of up-to-date payroll legislation
  • CIPP/IPPM qualification or extensive experience in a similar role
  • Ability to identify, develop and implement compliant policies, processes and procedures and communicate these clearly verbally and in writing
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate, validate and interpret payroll data and identify discrepancies, trends and risks
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience of selecting and implementing new payroll software,
